Timmra
Not too long ago several underwater volcanoes erupted in a violent show of raw power, forever changing the area. One by one small islands started to form, and gradually a few of the larger ones in the center expanded and merged together to form a large landmass.
In the years following various people arrived by various means. Some explorers crashed their ships on the uncharted islands, some washed up during storms, still other set out in search of a place to start their lives anew.
A few of the creatures accompanied explorers in their travels, but the origins of most cannot be explained. Some say they land holds some of the residual power that was unleashed in its creation, and that that power has caused some of the creatures to.. change, in odd ways.
Whatever the reason, one thing is known for sure: the land is not a safe place to live.
Approaching Janal
Suddenly, a lone man appeared on the road before the ravine. He was thin and scruffy, but something suggested he was stronger than he seemed. He wore the official cuirass of the Janal soldiers, but did not carry any visible weapons. As he approached the ravine he waved and a soldier atop a tower on the far side yelled down to someone inside. Slowly the drawbridge descended and the man crossed.
Before he was even two thirds of the way across the bridge, the lookout lost him in the shadows of the setting sun. Mere minutes later the lookout was watching the floor of the ravine hurtling toward him at a dizzying speed. His two fellow guards joined him soon after.
Timmra
Scholars have managed to create crude drawings of the land of Timmra and some of its cities. The City of Verlight and the Fortress of Janal among them. One spy even managed to smuggle out maps of the fortress in two pieces, including the catacombs and the palace with the upper floor.
